Some justice served: Randeep Hooda after Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh's killer shot dead by gunmen
Some justice has been served to Sarabjit Singh after an accused in his murder was shot dead in Pakistan, said actor Randeep Hooda, who played the role of the Indian death row prisoner in the 2016 film "Sarbjit".
Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, an accused in the murder of Singh and a close associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit founder Hafiz Sayeed, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Lahore on Sunday.
According to sources, Tamba was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants in the Islampura area of Lahore in Pakistan and was rushed in critical condition to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Hooda, who played the titular role in Omung Kumar's "Sarbjit", shared a page link on X and reacted to the news of Tamba's death.
"KARMA. Thank you ‘Unknown Men'. Remembering my Sister Dalbir Kaur and sending love to Swapandeep and Poonam, today some justice to Martyr Sarabjit Singh has been served," he wrote, referring to Singh's sister Dalbir Kaur, who died in 2022, and his daughters Swapandeep and Poonam.
Singh was sentenced to death by Pakistan after he was convicted of terrorism and spying in 1991.
He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 49 in Jinnah Hospital Lahore on the early morning of May 2, 2013, after being comatose for nearly a week following a brutal assault by inmates including Tamba, inside the high-security Kot Lakhpat jail.

Family of Indian youth shot dead in Canada seeks Indian govt's help to bring back body
Family of Indian youth shot dead in Canada seeks Indian govt's help to bring back body
Sunday, 14 April 2024 | PTI | Chandigarh
The family of a 24-year-old youth from Haryana's Sonipat who was shot dead in his car in Canada has sought help from the Indian government to bring his body.
The incident took place late on Friday night in Vancouver in British Columbia, where the victim Chirag Antil lived and worked, his family in Sonipat told reporters on Sunday.
His father is a retired Haryana government employee. Chirag's brother Romit Antil said after eating food he got into his car to go somewhere when he was shot dead.
He said that Chirag had completed his MBA recently and was on a work visa.
"I spoke to him hours before the murder. He was happy... He had no enmity with anyone. We want justice, we want to know why he was shot dead," an inconsolable Romit said.
He said they received a phone call from Canadian police that Chirag has been shot dead.
"We also received an email from Canadian police. They said they were investigating and do not have information as yet on who murdered him," said Romit.
"We spoke to Chirag's friend in Canada. He said they are not being told anything by the police yet," he said.
Chirag was currently working in a manpower security agency, he said.
Another relative of the deceased said Chirag had gone to Canada in 2022.
"We are shocked. We want the body to be brought home as soon as possible. Our embassy there and the Government of India should help us to bring the body back," he said.
The Vancouver Police Department in a press release said officers were called to the scene around 11 pm on April 12 after residents heard the sound of gunshots.
Chirag Antil was found deceased inside a vehicle in the area, police said. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing, it said.
The incident happened within a block of the route for Saturday's Vaisakhi parade and festival, police said.

Iran's state-run news agency says Iran has fired ballistic missiles at targets inside Israel
Iran's state-run news agency says Iran has fired ballistic missiles at targets inside Israel
Iran says it has launched ballistic missiles as part of its attack targeting Israel.
The state-run IRNA news agency quoted an anonymous official saying ballistic missiles were part of the attack.
Already, slow-moving Shahed-136 bomb-carrying drones have been seen in the skies over Iran. However, those are more easily shot down.
A ballistic missile moves on an arch trajectory, heading up into space before gravity brings the weapon down at a speed several times faster than the speed of sound.
Israel has missile defense systems capable of targeting ballistic missiles. However, in a massive attack involving multiple drones and missiles like the campaign launched late Saturday by Iran, the likelihood of a strike making it through is higher.
Iran launched dozens of drones toward Israel late Saturday, Israeli and Iranian officials confirmed, on an unprecedented revenge mission that pushed the Middle East ever closer to a regionwide war.
Israel's military said over 100 drones had been fired but that its air defenses were prepared for the attack and it was ready to respond. The U.S., with its large troop presence in the region, said it would provide unspecified support to Israel.
“We are monitoring the threat,” the Israeli military's spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, announced in a nationwide television address, saying it would take several hours for the drones to reach Israel. The Israeli military said it could not confirm if it had intercepted any drones or what their targets were.
The attack marked the first time Iran had ever launched a full-scale military assault on Israel, despite decades of enmity dating back to the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Iran had vowed revenge since an April 1 airstrike in Syria killed two Iranian generals inside an Iranian consular building. Iran accused Israel of being behind the attack. Israel hasn't commented on it.
Israel and Iran have been on a collision course throughout Israel's six-month war against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip. The war erupted after Hamas and Islamic Jihad, two militant groups backed by Iran, carried out a devastating cross-border attack on Oct. 7 that killed 1,200 people in Israel and kidnapped 250 others. An Israeli offensive in Gaza has caused widespread devastation and killed over 33,000 people, according to local health officials.
